Building Inspector's Office
Overview
The Building Inspector's Office is responsible for enforcement
of the 2009 edition of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building
Code (VUSBC) in Hanover County, Virginia and the Town of Ashland,
Virginia. The VUSBC references the following model building codes:
- Residential construction: 2009 edition of
the Virginia Residential Code
- Commercial construction: 2009 edition of the
Virginia Building Code
- Plumbing: 2009 edition of the Virginia
Plumbing Code
- Mechanical: 2009 edition of the Virginia
Mechanical Code
- Electrical: 2008 edition of the National Electrical
Code (NFPA 70)
- Basic design criteria: Basic un-adjusted design
values are: snow load: 20psf, wind speed: 90 mph (3 second gusts),
weathering: severe, frost line: 18", termite damage: heavy,
decay: moderate, winter design temp: 15 degrees F.
