| G.E. “Ed” Via10354 Wanchese Way
G.E. “Ed” Via was first elected to the Board of Supervisors for the Ashland District in 2007 and is now serving his second term. He has been elected Chairman of the Board in 2010 and 2012 and also served as Vice-Chairman in 2009. Mr. Via has been active in public service for many years. He spent 16 years as a member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee and four years as the Ashland District’s representative on the Planning Commission before being elected to the Board of Supervisors. Mr. Via represents Hanover County on the Capital Region Airport Committee, the Capital Regional Taxicab Advisory board (alternate) and the Richmond Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Richmond Sports Backers. Mr. Via also serves on the Social Services Advisory Board and the following Board of Supervisors committees: Airport, Finance (alternate), Joint Education (alternate), Legislative and Rules. “Ed”, as he is fondly called by his colleagues, graduated from John Marshall High School. He went on to receive his BA from North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC. Ed is the owner of Basic Builders Inc. When Mr. Via is not working or attending meetings, he enjoys reading, golf, and camping in our great outdoors.
