Inmate Visitation

The Pamunkey Regional Jail provides visiting opportunities for family, friends, and professionals according to a prescribed schedule. Pamunkey Regional Jail encourages inmates to maintain ties with their families and friends through regular visits.

 
 


Directions To The Jail

Located at 7240 Courtland Farm Rd., Hanover, VA 23069.

General driving directions:

  • From Interstate 95 - Use Exit 92 (Route 54 East - Hanover) - Proceed for approximately 6 miles on Rt. 54. At the end Rt. 54 bear right onto Rt. 301. Proceed for approximately 1 mile to Courtland Farm Road, Rt. 820. Turn left onto Courtland Farm Road. Follow road pass transfer station. Make the first left turn after you pass the transfer station. Follow to Pamunkey Regional Jail. Come to the center of the building with double doors.

  • From Interstate 295 - Use Exit 41 to Route 301 North - Proceed for approximately 9 miles to Courtland Farm Road, Rt. 820. Make a right turn onto Courtland Farm Road. Follow road pass transfer station. Make the first left turn after you pass the transfer station. Follow to Pamunkey Regional Jail. Come to the center of the building with double doors.

Professional Visitation

Professional visitation is a person from a legal or medical entity, such as the courts, an attorney, mental health, or law enforcement.

  • Attorneys or authorized members of their staff
  • Clergy who are cleared by the jail
  • Mental Health Professionals who are cleared by the jail
  • Personal Physicians or Psychiatrists
  • Police Officers
  • Probation and Parole officers
  • Social Workers

Professional visitation is conducted by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled by contacting
(804) 365-6400, Ext – 3013.   All professional visitors should bring photographic identification and credentials with them.  Although subject to change at any time, generally, professional visitation is conducted Monday through Friday at the following times:

  • 8:00 a.m. – 10:55 a.m.
  • 12:01 p.m. – 1:55 p.m.
  • 2:31 p.m. – 3:55 p.m.
  • 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

In addition, the Pamunkey Regional Jail does not offer professional visitation on holidays recognized by Hanover County, as shown below.

The jail understands that occasionally, professional visits must be conducted on weekends or holidays, and if such circumstances arise, please contact us to determine if a special appointment can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.

Regular Visitation

Friends and family members may come to the jail according to the following schedule. Visits are limited to 30 minutes unless prior arrangements have been made with the Jail. The inmate is allowed one regular visit per day and a maximum of 2 visits per week. A total of 2 persons may visit an inmate at a time. No one under 18 is allowed to visit unless accompanied by the parent or legal guardian. Special arrangements can be made for families who live seventy-five (75) miles or more from the Pamunkey Regional Jail. All adults must show a picture ID. Additional information can be obtained by calling the jail information numbers.

Pamunkey Regional Jail does not conduct inmate visitation on holidays observed by Hanover County. Those holidays include the following:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • Lee-Jackson Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans’ Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day

Whenever a holiday falls on a Saturday, the holiday will be observed on the preceding Friday. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday. Notification will be given if any additional holidays are approved during the year.
